Be an ally, watch a movie
We are so grateful that our sponsors made it possible to have this online TranScreen Film Festival. We are even prouder of the films that got sent to us. And of all the creativity and passion of the filmmakers and all the creatives involved.
Though, we do need to share that not all movies we selected could be screened. We wanted to share some amazing documentary movies with first hand Q&A’s, but due to the fact that we will be entirely online this year, it is too dangerous for some of the protagonists to show those movies in such a space, hence we can not. And the safety of anyone featured in the films we show must always be number one priority.
The fact is that as we enjoy a movie on a comfortable couch, many trans people need to hide, to perform the best showcase on a daily basis, find shelter and find a new family, just to survive everyday life. This shows the importance of a Film Festival like ours. The devastating truth is that many trans people still die for who they are.
Please be supportive and watch a movie we show this year. We know that the online festival has a different feel, but through this experience we stand beside our gender diverse family all over the world. Watching online enables us to be back in the cinema after the pandemic. Where we can come together once again, share important stories, flick away a tear, laugh out loud, but most of all: love one another.
By watching a movie you enable us to support filmmakers, actresses, actors, acters* and documentary makers to share their footage. Giving people from our community a chance to share their stories, their dreams, their hopes, their accomplishments, and for those things to be seen, heard and appreciated as they deserve to be.
Join us online from May 13 to May 27; check up on our website <www.transcreen.eu>, follow us on IG, visit our FB page. Let’s TRANSform the Internet!
Share the love!
