The next TranScreen Film Festival is scheduled for 16 & 17 May 2026 in Kriterion and JACO in Amsterdam! During the festival, we will show multiple movies, a shorTs block and organize workshops and borrels.
Ask any questions you might have at the Q&A’s and aftertalks, and be sure to join our workshop! Before and after every movie, there is time and space for a drink and a bite to eat at the Kriterion-café with our community. We hope to see you at the festival!

Workshop massage, consent, and body work for trans people
During this workshop you will learn relaxation exercises and massage techniques that you can apply to yourself or others. We discuss the value of touch and being compassionate towards yourself, and practice this in a safe environment.

State of Firsts

A documentary that follows Sarah McBride’s history-making campaign and her first year in Congress as the first openly transgender person ever to be elected to the U.S. legislature. State of Firsts captures McBride’s battle against relentless political attacks, and her perseverance in the face of oppression to the trans community.
Queer as Punk

While it is illegal to be LGBTQIA+ in Malaysia, trans man Faris and his punk band still travel the country to play gigs and protest. Queer as Punk is a documentary about courageous people who oppose the political reality in their country, while they are filled with energy and humor.

Walk-in restorative massage
As a trans person it can feel daunting to go to a regular massage therapist. This is why masseur Art offers sessions by and for trans and genderqueer people, during which you can receive a relaxing massage without prejudice and on your own terms. During the festival Art is offering free sessions of 15-30 minutes.

Niñxs

In the small town of Tepoztlán, fifteen-year-old Karla navigates the joys and uncertainties of rural trans adolescence. Together with her director and friend Kani she guides the audience through eight years of footage that form a joyful film, that is as personal as it is universal.
