Cinemasia x TranScreen: Talk “The Trapdoor of Representation”

Posted on 29 April 2022, 15:5129 April 2022, 15:51 by Femke5

SATURDAY May 14th 2022 19:10 – 20:00 @StudioK (Free admission)

Queer visibility and representation is one of the goals of the queer community. But there are also risks. What happens when cisgender or straight people try to portray an experience they know nothing about? Do we run the risk of being reduced to a stereotype by one-sided representation? Does visibility make us more vulnerable to hate? On this evening we will meet with CinemAsia and Studio/K to to discuss the trapdoor that representation can be.
//
Sascha Sylbing from Studio/K will moderate the talk. Filmmaker Jonnah Bron and crew members of TranScreen Laura Kok and Art van t Rood join the discussion.
//
Admission to is free, order your tickets here.
